Elliott Bay’s third location in the Seattle area is a nicely restored and remodeled retail store on a tree-lined major street in the mixed North Seattle neighborhood of Lake City. It’s a huge place with both a large bar area and a large dining area (and a special functions space downstairs). It’s all one big room with windows all along the street side and a big skylight towards the back.

The same attractive light-colored/reddish wood is used throughout for the floor, bar, bar back, tables, and booth benches, all augmented with black metal supports/accents. The tables are butcher-block-like and the booth seats are made from planks of wood. The high ceiling is unfinished with exposed joists and heating ducts as well as a row of enormous steel beams painted green.

The bar area has a low wall separating it from the dining area. The bar itself is very long and lined with tall black metal chairs with wooden seats. The bar back has a few mirrors and a large display listing the current beers. A number of tall communal tables with tall padded stools and a few built-in benches complete the bar area.

The dining area consists of a row of booths along the windows in front and just outside the bar area, and tables in two separate spaces.

Music plays in the background but it’s hard to hear over the noise from the kitchen and conversations (there are unfortunately no soft surfaces for sound absorption).

The brewery is in back and is visible from the good-sized parking lot through its windows and two glass garage doors.

There’s a decent looking food menu with a whole page of burger options, various entrees, sandwiches, salads, and a range of appetizers (including an intriguing smoked salmon platter and a jar of house-made pickles). We tried the humus and calamari appetizers and they were both good (and the calamari was surprisingly not overcooked).

There is quite an extensive beer selection. 15 Elliott Bay beers (brewed here and in their other two locations in West Seattle and Burien), 6 guest beers, 2 guest ciders, root beer, and two different beers on cask. The Lake City beers cover a broad range. On our visit there were 3 IPAs, 5 Belgian-style, 2 stouts, a pale, a red, a lager, an imperial brown, and an imperial Wit. Growler fills are available.
