Creative play on words, this....however when entering wife Persimmon & I expected to see trombones, trumpets, horns a-plenty hanging from the walls. Musical notes painted around the instruments.
Nope.
Instead we have a faux Western motif with a wide open space for sitting (comfortable sofas and chairs), plants hanging from the warehouse space, antler tap handles and western music piped in overhead.
None of which bothered us; we rather liked it but the name of place does not associate well.
Neither, unfortunately does their beer.
With 8 tasters available, we found only 2 worthwhile and one of those, a Braggart (Royal Jelly)...the others were typical of each style (IPA, Amber, Stout, etc.) and, curmudgeon that I am, I always want a newly - discovered brewery to have several stand-outs.
We do have to give the brothers a big thumbs-up for their atmosphere however. The customers service was good and the over-all feel of the place was relaxed. With a big bay door open, a bbq team doing their bbq thing & smells wafting inside...a perfect 64-degree San Diego April day...perhaps 6 people enjoying their brew, it was a wonderful way to spend an hour.
When you tire of the crowded Pizza Port and Karl Strauss and B.J.'s...Booze Brothers is just one of several small, laid-back tonsorial parlors that will welcome you and your taste buds.
Just get on Highway 78 ("Hop Highway") and pull off an exit...any exit. You'll find one.
