I stopped in the Lucky Lab for lunch on a recent visit to Portland. They had way too many beers on tap for me to order my usual taster tray of all the beers so I asked the girl behind the counter to choose 6 for me. She did an excellent job picking 6 beers that represented their many brewing styles and I was very happy with her selections. My favorite was their IPA (I'm a hop head beer geek so that was no surprise). I got a slice of pizza and a bowl of chowder for lunch. Both were excellent and either one could have satisfied me as the whole meal. The building was quite interesting with high ceilings, kegs for light fixtures, long tables, artwork and an overall very open feeling. I would recommend stopping in here to anyone. While it didn't have the polish of Deschutes and Bridgeport or the character of Rogue and there was no bar to belly up to and no table service it was still a very enjoyable experience.

This was a neat place and the look was awesome. This was obviously going from the same style they have in their other places. The beers where good, food awesome and sitting outside with some friends was great. This was a very nice place I will recommend this to others for a brewery tour of Portland. The beers are so awesome. Must try the brewers special. Try the big hoppy beers and you will for ever be a hop head.

The beer hall was formerly some kind of industrial workshop as emphasized by the 5 ton hoist that is still hanging from the (tall) ceiling. It’s a very casual but quite comfortable environment with a true neighborhood feel. Rough concrete floors, long wooden (shared) tables and chairs and a few stools close to the bar. There are a lot of windows and glass garage doors that are open in decent weather. The decorations are dog-related - a large painting of Labrador silhouettes, a “No Barking” sign, etc. Lights hang down from the ceiling and also are attached to the support posts (these have “lampshades” made from old dented aluminum kegs with the bottoms cut out).

The beer is wide ranging and extensive. We haven’t ever had a beer from here that was truly memorable (yet!) but they are well made and the experience is so friendly that we’ll keep coming back.

The food is basic but respectable - pizza, sandwiches, salads, etc.

On our latest visit on a Wednesday evening, it was quite busy and we sat next to the “Español” table where conversation in Spanish was vivid and universal.

If you've ever wanted to drink good beer in a large wide open garage, you should drop by the Lucky Lab on NW Quimby. The neighborhood feels rather industrial and this location seems like it used to house some sort of manufacturing business.

I didn't try any food, but there was a fairly interesting sandwich and salad menu. The bar had 16 or 17 beers available (most of them brewed by Lucky Lab). There were several beers available that were brewed by other Portland brewers, but the majority were house beers.

On a nice day (which it was when I visited) the Lucky Lab Beer Hall is very pleasant. There were plenty of places to sit and hang out and there was a very large outdoor section available as well. The garage doors were wide open on my visit so it really felt like we were drinking outdoors anyway.

This was a good joint and I would love it if I lived close to a something like this. We cabbed it to this area from downtown and it was about a 7 dollar cab ride (not including tip).
