From a biker's point of view, this is a great place for a beer. If you like English style beers, than this is the place. The Scotch Ale that I've had is excellent, but you'd better watch out and only drink a couple. They will kick you're butt.

Jack Russell is located near the town of Camino in the Apple Hills area, perfect for good rides offering scenic views. This is definatley a good stop off point.

Only complaint is that it sometimes get's really warm, and the last thing you want to do from coming off a hot bike in the heat is to go into a hot tasting area or bar. Other than that, go in springtime.

Sometimes there are live bands and food available, and its great.

Jack Russell Brewing is nestled among the apple orchards, vineyards, and christmas tree farms that Eldorado County is famous for.
The building is a low pole barn. There are tables and umbrellas scattered all over the lawn out front.
In the tasting room there are two tables and approximately 7 seats at the bar. The walls are sparsely decorated with a few photos from events held at the brewery. The brewery tanks and bottling line can be seen through a large window.

There were 11 beers on tap, all Jack Russell beers with the exception of Wheat Brewing's Duke's Bad Ass Beer. Jack Russell actually contract brews this beer for Wheat Brewing.

The beers are all English Style as opposed to West Coast style. The head brewer is Raul. He was acting as the barkeeper on my visit. He was friendly and quick to answer any of my beer geek questions.

I enjoyed all the beer at Jack Russell but two that I found to be especially good were their London Porter and an incredible Raspberry Imperial Stout.

Try and talk a local into shipping a growler or some bottles in a trade...I'll probably visit next time I'm in the area. Worth the stop, for sure.

Jack Russell is located in the Apple Hill area off US 50. It is a popular weekend stop among the numerous apple farms that are common in the area. There is a nice lawn out front for picnicking and BBQ lunches are available many weekends. The tasting room has a small bar with some tables and the brewing and bottling area is located through a pair of etched glass doors. There is a $1 charge for tastes and half pints and pints are also available as well as six packs, 22oz bottles and growlers. There is a long beer menu but several styles were "OUT" when I visited leaving around a dozen available. I sampled the Seasonal IPA, a Harvest Apple Ale and the Olde Ale (not quite as strong as the Barley Wine that was only available in bottles). They also brew and bottle Dukes for the Wheat Beer Company (Big Ass, Dodger Hator, etc) which are available in the cooler as well.
